Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson star in the psychological thriller "Die, My Love," directed by Lynne Ramsay. |
Distributor MUBI has released the official teaser trailer for the upcoming psychological thriller, Die, My Love, and it's clear this is not a typical Hollywood film. The minute-long trailer, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Lynne Ramsay, takes a swift and unsettling turn from a seemingly joyous romance to a descent into psychological horror.
The first look begins innocently enough, showcasing the couple, Grace (Lawrence) and Jackson (Pattinson), in moments of domestic bliss. Set to the cheerful beat of Shirley Ellis's "The Clapping Song," the footage portrays them dancing, laughing, and embracing a carefree life. This lighthearted tone, however, serves as a jarring contrast to the madness that quickly follows.
About halfway through, the music slows to an ominous, off-kilter clap as the imagery becomes increasingly sinister. The new movie trailer shifts to a montage of shocking visuals: the couple fighting, Grace engaging in bizarre behaviors like licking a window, and a terrifying shot of a knife being carried through a field. The film is an adaptation of Ariana Harwicz’s novel of the same name and explores a woman's psychological unraveling. The director, Lynne Ramsay, is well-known for her work on other intense films like We Need to Talk About Kevin and You Were Never Really Here, and critics at the Cannes Film Festival have already praised Lawrence's performance as "fearless."
This official trailer is the first major promotional material for the film since its celebrated premiere at Cannes, where it reportedly received a nine-minute standing ovation. The film's distributors, MUBI, are aiming for an awards season run and have set a theatrical release date for November 7, 2025. This psychological thriller is poised to be a major film event, not only for its two lead stars but for its unflinching exploration of a woman's mental state. Fans of the genre, and of both actors, will undoubtedly be watching closely.
